Since Kesatuan Bangsa School is an international school, bilingual school, and uses Cambridge curriculum and the National curriculum in Indonesia, it is glaring then, that this institution has ample of learning materials and innovation. In my one month stay at the school, I’ve witnessed the different innovations and unique learning materials that a teacher employed inside his classroom.
First, are the text books and workbooks that it has. The school has combined and integrated the cambridge and the national curriculum. Their textbooks in English, Mathematics, and Science are Cambridge, while, the social science, religion, and the like are based or anchored in the prescribed national curriculum. The faculty and staff also developed their own worksheets and workbooks in each subject, like in Math, Biology, Physics, etc..
Secondly, the school believes that educational methodology must constantly improve in order to remain relevant. Living in the information age, classical methods of teaching have become less and less viable, and a need for more effective, active and engaging methods has become necessary. Thus, at Kesatuan Bangsa, by combining its more contemporary educational methods with modern technology, it has created a more advantageous as well as a more interactive learning environment for our students. Specifically, to keep up with the ever-pacing development of technology, the school is encouraging the use of technology in classroom by using Chromebooks and online resources. Many of the lessons, evaluations, and surveys are done online. The online resources and tools used for the education are Google Suite for Education and its features, IXL.com, Edpuzzle.com, quizlet, quizziz, etc., by these I saw students enjoyed the mechanisms happening inside the classroom.
Actually, I can say that the school both employ the low-tech and high-tech instructional materials. From chalk board, smart-board to LCD projector, screen, audio system, etc. just to facilitate the class.
I also observed the creativity of some teachers. Like for example, one of them used the app called Tarsia, where it is used to make a domino and jigsaw game. Thus, students really enjoyed the class discussion.
